I was wondeing . . . what some of you might do, or actually do, when it comes to dealing with skeptics, critics, and nay-sayers in regards to what you all believe and know to be true?

Help

I just read something last night that was helpful. I read it in Osho's “Awareness” An excellent book!
“Buddha is pasing through a village. Some people are angry, very much against his teachings. They abuse him, they insult him. Buddha listens silently and then says “If you are finished, then allow me to move on. I have to reach the next village, and they will be waiting for me. If something is still remaining in your mind, then when I am passing back by this route, you can finish it.”
They say: ” We have abused you, insulted you. Are you not going to answer?”
Buddha says:” I never react now. What you do is up to you-I never react now, you cannot force me to do something. You can abuse me; that is up to you-I am not a slave. I have become a free man. I act from my center, not from my periphery, and your abuse can touch only the periphery, not my center. My center remains untouched”.
Not everyones truth is the same.
What you know is in your center. No one can touch your center, only the periphery.
Blessings!!!

It might help to be bit more detailed about your situation.
One example from my life, is that I absolutely believe the image on the Shroud of Turin is that of Jesus. More than 37 years of scientific investigation (starting the 1970's) confirms that this image could not have been made by the hand of man. Any time the subject comes up, skeptics, critics, and nay-sayers all mention the same Carbon 14 test that places the cloth in the 13th century. The fact that many of the world's top scientists agree the test was flawed, it does not stop the skeptics, critics, and nay-sayers from believing they are correct. I could make a very long list of scientific facts that can not be denied (remember, science is very objective…black / white, yes / no, very little grey areas) and the skeptics, critics, and nay-sayers will still object.
Some people just have a fixed agenda and nothing will ever change thier opinion. I prefer to keep my mind open.
